Each season we release one themed collection. Every artist contributes at most five works. When a work sells, it is gone — we don't restock originals.
Moonkey is a curatorial platform dedicated to bringing contemporary Chinese artists to American collectors. We care about the work first — its sincerity, its craft, its staying power.
Every artist in our program is selected personally and represented exclusively. We spend time in their studios, understand their practice, and only take on work we'd want on our own walls. Works are imported, inspected, and shipped from our U.S. studio — insured, with a 14-day return window.
In a Chinese fable, a monkey reaches into still water to grasp the reflection of the moon — convinced the real thing is within reach. We think that urge — to pursue what feels luminous and just beyond — is the right way to find art worth keeping.
We represent a small roster closely — five artists today, fifteen by year's end. Each contributes at most five works per collection, and sold works are never restocked.
Prices are visible. Provenance is documented. Every work ships with a Certificate of Authenticity and condition report.
We tell each artist's story as it actually is — not dressed up for a market, but honest about who they are and why they make what they make.
We respond to every inquiry personally, usually within 24 hours. For works above $1,500 we're happy to arrange a video call to discuss the piece in detail.
